How to grant Edit/View only Access

NOTE : You must be the administrator of your SoftMouse.NET account to grant Access Permissions.

You can grant:

  • View Only access to allow selected users to view records under another user
  • Edit access to allow selected users to make changes to records under another user

Please note: If you want the user to create records for another user, click here.

Here are the steps:

  1. Click the Home icon button at the far left in the top menu
  2. Click the Permissions menu, then click the Edit/View Access submenu
  3. In the first drop-down list, select the user whose data you wish to share  --- the table at the bottom of the page refreshes and will show permissions on the selected user's Mouselines
  4. If the user you want to share records with already has permissions granted that need to be modified, select the checkboxes next to the user in the table and click the grey Delete button --- the page will refresh and default back to your permissions - repeat step 3
  5. In the second drop-down list, select the Mouseline(s) you wish to share
    • Select Records with no Mouseline to ensure all records that don’t have an associated Mouseline will be accessible
    • Select All Mouselines if you want to grant the user access to All Mouselines under the user whose data you wish to share
    • Select individual Mouselines if you want to grant the user edit access to specific Mouselines
  6. In the third drop-down list, select the user you want to share the records with
  7. In the fourth drop-down list, select:
    • Edit if you want the user to modify the records
    • View Only if you want the user to view the records
  8. Click Submit --- the page will refresh and default back to your permissions
  9. Repeat steps 3-8 to grant access for multiple users

Done!

Note: If you want a user to be able to edit a specific field (i.e. Genotype) while having View Only Access click here
